Timeline:
November 2018
Imprint Magazine, one of UCF’s many student-operated publications, has encouraged students to leave their 'imprint' through creative journalism since its inception 2011. However, with an outdated logo and student engagement dwindling, the club was facing difficult times in 2018.
At the request of a friend of mine, who is a staff member for Imprint, I was tasked to create a fresh, bold, and re-energized brand that would more effectively capture the attention of potential new staff recruits and the readership of the general student body, as well as make the magazine seem more trendy and edgy – reflective of its thoughtful and ambitious journalistic efforts.

Imprint Brand - Before and After
Branding Thought Process
For the color scheme, I chose a “black, gold, and bold” palette that would retain the UCF family of colors while equally promoting a bright and unique publication identity. The new logo system is adaptable, modern, and eye-catching. The fingerprint motif with the “I” inside it (representing both the title of the publication and the concept of one's personal mark) can stand alone as a recognized brand mark, or be combined with descriptive title text. This minimal-color logo system is able to be applied easily in any digital or print situation. Furthermore, the new identity displays its ties to UCF through its color, but also forges a differentiated and memorable personality.
